It’s “Back to School Season” and this month BMe Philly continued to honor its commitment to the community through a variety of resource based programs aimed at providing information, support and resources to youth during this crucial time of year! BMe Leaders and Community Champions hosted workshops and events with a focus on lessening the impact of “summer melt”, while also offering stimulating, educational and fun activities to keep youth engaged and inspired. They also helped students gear up for back to school by providing school supplies so that youth could walk into the classroom with confidence knowing that they are indeed ready!
Check out how BMe Philly showed up and showed out to ensure our youth are mentally and physically prepared to take on the challenges of the upcoming school year.
- BMe Genius Isaiah Thomas and the Thomas & Woods Foundation hosted its annual basketball camp and resource fair. The basketball camp (for youth in grades 5-12) focused on building leadership and social skills.
- Regular Fellows hosted its annual Back to School Community Event on August 18th at the Lonnie Young Recreation Center. BMe Genius Jeff Jones emceed the event as Regular Fellows gave away 2,000 book bags.
- Vincent Cobb of The Black Male Educators Convening showed their commitment and investment to the students of Mastery Charter School Shoemaker Campus. Participants lined the entrance and hallways to warmly welcome students back to school on their 1st day of the 2018-19 school year.
