A pillar in Detroit's artist community Joel Fluent hosts a monthly poetry event called A Man Can Change. This monthly event features artist, activist and men throughout Detroit who share the common thread of giving back and serving their community. In addition to hosting the monthly show Joel Fluent facilitates poetry workshops in local schools, using poetry and literature to keep kids on the right track in life.

          • What a fraud. This Fluent green person has abandoned all his children (except the one biracial one)... How far has poetry taken him really? Does it help put food in the mouths of his 9 children or diapers on his 2 infants who were born in the same year? I doubt it. This is a coward who uses "poetry" to justify his laziness and bum status. I feel for ur children. You're right about one thing your not an activist. All u have contributed to the community is a "host" of fatherless little boys+girls.
